Windmill acquire Commercial Label Procucts

On 1st December Windmill acquired Commercial Label Products as part of our continuing growth strategy in self adhesive printed labels and plain labels. We had identified investment in a major digital label facility as a key driver for growth . The printed tape and label markets are very competitive and organic growth rates have been low over the last couple of years due to the challenging economic environment in which we operate. We felt that the returns on the acquisition would enable us to move forward more quickly.

The merging of the Windmill & CLP facilities is very exciting and gives us a unique opportunity of adding to our own printed label offering by introducing  digital labels as well as  inkjet and rotary letterpress.  We also have a very efficient production facility for plain labels meaning there are no label jobs that we cannot take on regardless of run length. We now have printing capability on HP Indigo, Xeikon, Jetrion and Markandy presses along with plain label production on our in line Vectra slitter/rewinder. 2012 promises to be a good year as we begin to offer our range of products to a wider customer base.

We aim to deliver

Delivery performance.....

Here at Windmill Tapes and Labels Ltd, we're always looking for ways we can improve our service and how we deliver to the customer, and on that basis we have invested in a new CRM system to ensure traceability of quotations and correspondence to our customers and a benefit which has become immediately apparent is that we can now measure the accuracy of our delivery promises. Given we can now measure this we will be publishing our monthly delivery date accuracy in % terms. We’re measuring how often the goods we produce are delivered on or before the date we have promised and for the month of Oct it’s 92.8%.

Not good enough in our view, we are aiming for 95% so we’ll see how we do next month!!!

Windmill In the Community

Social awareness is not something you would always connect to business but here at Windmill we recognise the importance of giving back something to the community in which we operate. To this end we are launching WITC (Windmill in the community) with the intention of helping local organisations with charitable works and projects. We have also invited our people to nominate local charities for us to specifically support and the ABCD award winners will be able to donate an extra £50 per month to those charities on top of their own prize.
